What to Look for in the Perfect Family Campgrounds
The spring season is upon us, which means that families are already getting out there and going camping! Camping is one of the most popular fun family vacations — more than 42.5 million Americans went camping in 2011. But there’s one key component to having the best family camping trip possible: the location. Finding the right family campgrounds can mean the difference between a great camping trip and a miserable one. Here’s how to find campgrounds that will make for a great vacation location.
1. Look for the right accommodations.
The most important thing to look for when you’re starting to search for family campsites is the right accommodations. For example, if you’re planning on camping in an RV, you’re going to want to find a park designed for RV camping. If you’re more interested in roughing it, look for campsites that have space for tents; if you’re looking for a more comfortable stay, opt for cabin vacation rentals in campsites.
2. Pay attention to amenities.
When you’ve found a few campsites that have the right sleeping accommodations, you should then focus on the other amenities that the site offers. Check to see if there is an on-site grilling station or some other sort of cook top for you to use, since you’ll have to fashion one if there is not. Additionally, check to see if there are bathrooms and showers if those are things that your family wants to have.
3. The site should have safe and fun activities.
After finding the right place with the right amenities, the last thing to check is the opportunities for recreation. Family camping resorts usually have a number of different water activities like boating, swimming, and a splash park, but since hiking is the most popular activity for campers you should make sure that they have clear and safe marked trails as well.
