Exploring Catfish Bay
Catfish Bay bills itself as the "Greatest Show on H20" and with good reason. The lake offers visitors a daily water skiing show with pyramids of skiers standing on top of each other, pulling off death-defying stunts.
Catfish Bay is a great way to spend the day while family camping. It's a waterski and stage show and its suitable for all ages. Usually, most people spend about two hours at the attraction. They are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The average cost per person for those wishing to visit Catfish Bay is $10. There are special rates for children and there are group rates available. Catfish Bay is a 22-acre recreational ski park that is located on the outer edges of Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls Water Ski Club owns and operates the facility. There is a weekly water skiing shows all summer long. Features at these shows are human pyramids, barefoot skiing, ballet, lifts, jumps and other types of hair-rasing events. There is a concessions area along with bleachers and a picnic area available that is perfect for families trying to enjoy the warm weather. Simply put, if you like water skiing fun, there's no better place than Catfish Bay.

After visiting Catfish Bay, there's a South Dakota campground that offers the same kind of family fun: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort. The cabin rentals and rv campground is located nearby Catfish Bay as well as other great local attractions. Jellystone Park offers RV sites, tent sites, and camping cabins. The campground's amenities are many, including, handicap facilities, clean restrooms and hot showers are offered free of charge. It's a great place to stay after a day spent at Catfish Bay. Yogi Bear™ and all his friends also make frequent visits.
The South Dakota campground also boasts a heated swimming pool as well as a spa. For the kids, there's a playground, a volleyball and basketball court, and even mini-golf. There are also quality laundry facilities available. If you need to stay in touch with friends through e-mail, the campground also provides Wi-fi, high-speed Internet access. It's the perfect place to go after a visit to Catfish Bay.

Catfish Bay is not the only facility located nearby. Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has several other things to offer for those looking for family type of things to do during their visit. There's the Empire Mall. The mall has more than 180 retail shops and restaurants. It's largest shopping center in the area and it brings in visitors from eastern parts of the state, the southwest of Minnesota, the northwestern part of Iowa, and even some parts of Nebraska. According to the mall, 14 million shoppers visit each year. The mall boasts that is the top shopping area between Denver, Colorado and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Also near Catfish Bay and Jellystone Park Camp-Resort is the Great Plains Zoo, which can be found in the middle of the city. The zoo features more than 70 species and nearly 400 animals from around the world which will make any South Dakota vacation worth while. The 45-acre site features areas such as the Penguin Pool, the Primate Complex, the Australian Outback, the Birds of Prey Island, the Children's Zoo, Asian Cat Habitat, and others.
